Acupuncture for acute appendicitis

In most patients, a raised mass may be palpable. The case of abdominal wall muscle tension, rapid pulse and high fever are symptoms of severe illness. In children, diarrhoea is possible.

Appendicitis is a fairly common acute condition. Pain begins in the upper abdomen or navel area, then moves and resides in the lower right corner of the abdomen, accompanied by vomiting and diarrheal. There is local pain point and predominant pain in the lower right corner of the abdomen (Mac Burney's point), slight fever, increased leukocytes in most patients, a raised mass may be palpable. The case of abdominal wall muscle tension, rapid pulse and high fever are symptoms of severe illness. In children, diarrhoea is possible.

Treatment: Choosing the main points of Kinh Vi. Strong stimulation.

Designated acupuncture point: Lan Vi (period point), Tuc Tam Ly, Phuc Ket, Thien Khu.

Acupuncture points according to symptoms:

Vomiting: Noi Quan

Fever: Khuc Tri

Note: In the acute phase, every day to fill 2-3 times, keep the needle for 1 hour every 10 - 15 minutes and wash the needle once. When symptoms subside, light up once a day. After symptoms have resolved, another 2-3 days of treatment to consolidate results.
