Contrast technique by echocardiographic eustachian valve margin!

Transesophageal echocardiography demonstrates a prominent atrial valve and contrast enhancement. 

Above: Image recorded before contrast injection. Note the prominent Eustachian valve adjacent to the inferior vena cava (arrow). 

Below: The image is recorded after contrast injection. Note the presence of contrast in the superior vena cava and the main part of the right atrium but the absence of contrast in the area described by the atrial valves. The absence of contrast can be confused with a negative contrast effect due to an atrial septal defect.
