Subcutaneous airflow: usually clear and rapidly increases with coughing, swallowing, or speaking the emphysema can spread to the face, chest, front spine down to the mediastinum.

Throat injuries are common in children due to holding pens, sticks, chopsticks, sharp toys, falling into the throat while running, and injuries caused by weapons and pharynx (rarely). There is also a high neck cut (on the sun's thyroid) into the lower throat.

Diagnose

It is important to ask for history as symptoms vary according to the cause and location of the injury.

Throat

Common in children due to a sharp object piercing the throat, rarely into the cavity of the tonsils or the back of the throat.

There are the following characteristics:

Bleeding is usually not much and stops on its own.

Difficulty swallowing, painful swallowing depending on the severity of injury.

The wound can penetrate the frog's jaw to clear the nose - throat.

If it is in the posterior wall, it can cause inflammation, abscess of the back of the throat.

Lower throat

Less common but more dangerous, can be from outside the neck into the open wound.

Has the following characteristics:

Shortness of breath should be noted for many reasons: due to choking of blood in the trachea, drop off the tongue, oedema, due to air spill.

Difficulty swallowing, clear pain, very easy to choke into the larynx, trachea.

Difficult speaking: the tone is not clear if the lower throat is completely opened due to the throat cut, the more obvious the effect will lead to loss of voice.

Bleeding: usually not much, but easily into the windpipe causing cough, choking difficulty breathing.

Subcutaneous airflow: usually clear and rapidly increases with coughing, swallowing, or speaking the emphysema can spread to the face, chest, front spine down to the mediastinum. The perforated wound in the lower throat easily leads to inflammation of the neck connective tissue, mediastinal inflammation, pneumonia.

Treatment

Put the gastric tube to feed, drink for a few days to heal the pierced wound.

Endotracheal intubation or, better yet, open the trachea when breathing is difficult and avoid a choking accident on the airways.

If the tear in the throat is wide, it is possible to sew into 2 layers: the muscle layer and the mucous layer.

If the skin is torn, it should not be sutured tightly, it is necessary to put the wick to drain, the stitch should narrow the tear.

If there is exorbitant to note:

Sewing in each layer: mucosa, muscle, balance ... the mucous layer should be sewn correctly and snugly.

It is necessary to hang the thyroid cartilage to the nail bone when rupturing the nail membrane

If it comes late, the wound has pus, it needs to drain well, given antibiotics (should use anaerobic antibiotic).
