Chronic renal failure is the end stage of many different renal diseases. It is characterized pathologically by bilaterally shrunken kidneys. Clinically, it causes progressive irreversible azotemia, normocytic anaemia, platelet dysfunction, renal osteodystrophy, and hypertension.
