Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma causes hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, pain, hemoptysis, and eventual respiratory compromise. Risk factors include smoking, alcohol, and frequent cord irritation (professional singing or lecturing). Complications include direct extension, metastases, and infection.
