Atrophy of the optic nerve due to nerve damage or persistent increase in intracranial pressure. Patients may present with symptoms of impaired optic nerve function (blurred vision, central focus).
Description
Disproportionately disproportionate reduced size and discoloured.
Reason
Frequent
AION (AION).
Multiple sclerosis.
Less common
Chronic neuritis.
Glaucoma.
Tumour.
Eye disease caused by the thyroid gland.
Genetic neuropathy Leber.
Mechanism
Atrophy of the optic nerve due to nerve damage or persistent increase in intracranial pressure. Patients may present with symptoms of impaired optic nerve function (blurred vision, central focus).
Meaning
Papillary atrophy due to degeneration of optic nerve fibres is caused by damage that lasts at least 4-6.
