Diabetic muscle atrophy: signs of symptoms and causes
Some recent studies have shown inflammatory infiltration, immunoglobulins and complement and small blood vessels, suggesting that immune-mediated capillary inflammation may be the cause.
Describe
Neuropathy is related to painful muscle atrophy, especially affecting the thighs, legs, buttocks, causing decreased reflexes and strength of the lower extremities. This also causes weight loss.
This may resolve after 12 months or more.
Cause
Diabetes.
Mechanism
The mechanism is not clear yet; maybe the pathology of the lumbar plexus. It was previously thought that ischemia, metabolic problems, and an inflammatory reaction caused this condition.
